Implementation of Sustainable Farming Practices in Trinidad’s Northern Range Communities (June 2009 to Present)
The project ‘Implementation of Sustainable Farming Practices in Trinidad’s Northern Range Communities’ seeks to follow up on the Northern Range Assessment by specifically addressing the dimension of hillside agriculture. It is an attempt to work with farmers in the
Caura/Tacarigua and St. Joseph watersheds to engage and assist them in transforming their agricultural practices to be more ecologically sound, while sustaining their livelihood base and improving their returns. The project was developed with key collaborating organizations, such as UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Caribbean Agricultural Research and Development Institute
(CARDI) and Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), which have committed to providing technical support during the execution of the project. The project is in part funded by the Inter-American Development Bank and is estimated to be completed in 30 months.

TCF’s principal contribution to MA follow-up has been the in-kind support lent to the development and coordination of a programme specifically geared at maintaining the sub-global assessment work (SGA) initiated during the course of the original MA project (undertaken between 2001 and 2005), and mobilizing further sub-global projects and activities around the world. As a member of the Secretariat for this Programme, The Foundation assists in:
-   Developing the SGA work programme in terms of its substantive elements (activities, funding strategy etc.)
-   Lending technical support to SGA practitioners and colleagues
-   The delivery of selected aspects of the day-to-day management of the Programme

Northern Range Assessment - People and the Northern Range (March 2003 - October 2005)
People and the Northern Range is an ecological and socio-economic
assessment of Trinidad's Northern Range. We depend on this valuable
natural resource for food, housing and a host of other services.
Can the Northern Range continue to provide for our needs? Are our
own activities compromising its ability to do so? How can we reap
it's benefits without destroying it? This assessment attempts to
answer these and other relevant questions.
People and the Northern Range is a sub-global assessment of
the global enterprise called the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment.
